Arroyo Golf Course at Red RockThe last few months and over $300,000 dollars have been dedicated to improve the already wonderful Arroyo Course at Red Rock Country Club. This golf course, designed by Arnold Palmer and situated in the community of Summerlin, is a truly fun layout that has captivated golfers since it first opened. Thom Blinkinsop, General Manager at Red Rock, comments " I think players will be very surprised at what we have done and how much tougher this golf course will play since we changed a few things." By March 1, 2008 the entire golf course will completely open and you will be pleasantly surprised at the changes you will find. Wide fairways and tough greens are the hallmark of this popular course.

Arnold Palmer built two golf course at Red Rock and the Arroyo is the public side of this facility. The Arroyo at Red Rock plays to just slightly under 6,900 yards, but shot-making is very important, especially playing into these well-bunkered greens. Once on the greens the fun really starts as many of these greens are undulating and some of the fastest in the city. Consistently these greens can run well over 10 on the stempmeter.

The Arroyo at Red Rock features several elevation changes which are quite unusual in the flat desert landscape. Most pronounced is the par-3 7th hole that measures over 215 yards but plays shorter because of the downhill slope. When you combine the length and the water on the right this can be a very daunting shot for any golfer.

The golf course has made some great changes to the last three holes and players should notice a dramatic difference in the playability of these holes. If you can manage to keep your score under 80 you have done a great job.

The Arroyo at Red Rock is located very close to the Red Rock Resort and Spa in addition to some great restaurants in the area. The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s and Agave are just a few of the dining choices for your after-round meal.
