Originally built in 1946, this property is one of the oldest casinos in Las Vegas. For the past 29 years this resort has been awarded the Four Diamond rating from AAA. Recently it has been one of the focal points of the renovation of the downtown area.

Currently the hotel is owned by the Landry’s Corporation which is famous for its string of restaurants across the country. They have spent the last couple of years bringing the property up to date and improving some of the amenities.

Part of the improvement includes the expanding of their headliners Showroom. This room can now hold 600 guests and features such headline performers as Don Rickles, Charlie Daniels and Ronnie Milsap.

Another renovation of note is the pool area, called The Tank, at the Golden Nugget.  Guests at the hotel can choose between sunbathing, swimming, or taking a ride down the brand new 3-story tube waterslide built into this $30-million overhaul.  Perhaps the most defining feature of the pool is the 200,000 gallon shark tank that sits in the center of the pool area.  Riders of the slide beware – the ride culminates in a trip right through the center of the tank!

The Golden Nugget has several great restaurants to choose from. The centerpiece of the property is Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse. The menu will tempt you with juicy steaks and succulent seafood. Only a company like Landry’s could bring you this level of service. The buffet has been recently upgraded and is reasonably priced.
