Las Vegas Golf Courses Prepare for the Fall Season

Before you plan your golf trip to Las Vegas, you'll want to know what golf courses are prepared for your visit. Each year, just before the popular Fall Golf Season in Las Vegas, golf courses throughout the valley are partially or completely closed for two or more weeks at a time, while they undergo a process called Overseeding.

What is Overseeding?

Overseeding is the process in which new grass seed is layed on top of current grass to help promote growth or to replace current grass with a new form of grass for the season. Bermuda grass, which is common to many of the best golf courses in Las Vegas, lays dormant during the winter. To avoid a browning during dormancy, golf courses put down ryegrass seed on top of the Bermuda Grass. This is done during the late summer and early fall months (September - October), the ryegrass provides a lush green during this season, and dies in spring when the Bermuda Grass regrows and retakes it's green glory throughout the spring and summer months.
