The Easiest Holes in Las Vegas Golf
Dec 05, 2007 by Shane Jensen

Most golfers that I know, including myself, are not the most accurate ball strikers on the planet. With this in mind I am always scanning the scorecard to find out which holes during the course of a round are going to make me look like Tiger Woods. Although many of the golf courses in Las Vegas can be quite difficult, the designers have still managed to throw in that standard "easy" hole to make golfers feel more confident in the game.
With a correctly placed tee shot and a little luck any hole can become a birdie hole. This list compiles a group of holes that most players wish would come along more often. Unless there is a total breakdown in your golf swing, you know you have a great chance at birdie on these holes.
Siena Golf Club
17th hole, par-3, 138 yards
This is a great opportunity to practice a low punch shot with a short iron. This hole plays 138 yards on the card but the hole plays downhill and is much shorter than that. Although the green is surrounded by bunkers the landing area is quite large and with the pin location in the back of the green, is an ample target.
Play for the middle of the green on this hole and no matter where the pin is you should have a good chance at making a putt. The greens at Siena Golf Club tend to be very quick and undulating. Be sure to check the pin location and take a little less club to find the green.
The Arroyo Course at Red Rock Country Club
5th hole, par-5, 520 yards
From the tee it might appear that this is a tight hole with bunkers on both the right and left sides of the fairway. The landing area is much larger than it first appears. Longer players will be able to fly the bunker on the right-hand side and leave a shorter shot into the green. The best target off this tee is right down the middle of the fairway between the bunkers. This fairway is fast so expect the ball to roll a little bit.
The second shot should be played from between 200-230 yards to the green. This is a wide, open green that is long but has a large tier in the middle. Pins that are in the front will require a little more touch than those in the back. The green slopes from right to left so favor the right side and let the ground feed the ball toward the hole. Reaching this green in two shots will give the players a great chance at birdie.
Bear's Best Golf Club
11th hole, par-4, 350 yards
This is a great hole to try and drive the green. There is a bunker on the right side of the green but longer hitters will be able to bounce the ball over it. Players can not see the green on this hole so be sure to look at a hole diagram to determine the best line off the tee. This hole features the distinctive black sand that can be found on the original Old Works Golf Club in Anaconda, Montana.
More conservative players will want to aim at the fence down the left-hand side of the fairway. From this position, players will be left with a short flip shot into the green. This green is fairly straightforward and if you can get the ball within 10 feet you will have a great chance at birdie.
Angel Park Golf Club- Palm Course
11th hole, par-5, 511 yards
There are several short par-5's at Angel Park but this one seems to yield the most birdies. This hole is a dogleg left that has trees on both sides of the fairway. The trees are sparse, allowing the player to let the driver fly. Depending on how brave you are feeling, you may want to take the ball over the left stand of trees. This will leave the shortest shot into the green.
The green on this hole is slightly elevated, but if you miss the green, chipping is relatively simple. There is not much movement to this green although it does slope from back to front, so you will want to be below the hole if possible. Most players will be able to reach this green in two shots. If you don't make a birdie here something is very wrong.
Silverstone Golf Club - Mountain Course
1st hole, par-4, 348 yards
This hole is as easy as it gets at Silverstone Golf Club's Mountain Course, this short par-4 can be driven with a well-placed tee shot. The only drawback for most players is that there is an out-of-bounds close to where the optimum target line is. A more conservative line will still get the player right next to the green and chipping for eagle. The best target off the tee is right of the bunker on the right-hand side of the fairway.
The area around the green is mounded but this green is very flat and chipping is not much of a problem. Considering the rest of the golf course, players had better make a birdie here as they are few and far between.
