Las Vegas Offers More Than Just the Strip

Las Vegas is home to some of the largest and most elaborate hotels and casinos in the world. No where else on the planet can you visit the canals of Venice in the morning and look at the New York Skyline at night. With so many themed resorts it is no wonder that millions of people visit Las Vegas each year.

As the city has grown so have the options available off the Strip. The night life of Sin City comes alive each night at the Palms Hotel and Casino. Renew your energy with the subtle pleasures of the Spa at the Red Rock Resort. Or, play world championship golf on the golf courses located at the Lake Las Vegas Resort.

The Palms Hotel and Casino

Located just off the Strip on Flamingo Road, The Palms has become one of the most popular off-Strip casinos in Las Vegas. This is partly due to the marketing genius of the Maloof Family. They were the original owners of the Fiesta Hotel and have taken their unique brand of entertainment to the Palms Hotel and Casino. It is no wonder that celebrities can be found in abundance at this off-Strip property.

The Palms has been the site of many high-profile television programs including several poker shows that have taken the country by storm. Also very popular are the nightclubs and lounges that dot the property. Rain is the most popular dance club in Las Vegas, and the Ghostbar is a nice way to end the evening at 54 stories above the Strip.

The Fantasy Tower is the latest edition to the Palms Hotel. The Fantasy Tower is home to the Playboy Club which features live gaming and a nightclub. This tower is filled with specialty rooms including the Hardwood suite, Hugh Hefner Sky Villa and the Real World Suite. This resort is geared more toward the younger crowd to be sure, but it is quite a spectacle to behold.

The Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa

Built at cost of over $1 billion, the Red Rock Resort is the most lavish resort ever built away from the Las Vegas Strip. Located in Summerlin, this resort has all the opulence of the finest hotels on the Strip without the crowds. Don't get me wrong - things can get hopping at this local’s casino, but it provides a more intimate setting without the huge crowds and sparse parking you find at the larger Strip properties.

As you walk into this resort it is obvious they have spent some money on making this as appealing as possible. From the Swarovski Crystal to the muted earth tones, the guest feels right at home at Red Rock.

The Red Rock Resort caters to a diverse crowd that includes younger guests who frequent the nightclub Cherry, and also accommodates the older local crowd who faithfully feed slot machines in hopes of the big score. There is also a spa and numerous restaurants on the property that cater to every need of the guest.

Lake Las Vegas Resort

This is one of the largest projects currently under development in Las Vegas. The property originally started out with just the Hyatt Regency as the main hotel, but in recent years there has been an influx of different lodging alternatives. Currently the Ritz-Carlton and Loews are the two largest hotel chains located on the property.

What makes this property so unique are the three golf courses located here. Lake Las Vegas is home to two Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses and a Tom Weiskopf golf course. No where else in Las Vegas will you find a more complete resort for the person looking for a golf-specific vacation.

After a day of golf it is quite possible to float around the lake and enjoy a cocktail while watching the sunset. It doesn't seem right to have a huge man-made lake in the middle of desert but that is exactly what they have at Lake Las Vegas. During the winter months a portion of the lake freezes and they offer ice skating.

There are many things that attract visitors to Las Vegas, and more people are coming to this explosive city every year. You don’t have to stay where all the action is in order to have a Vegas-style experience. Many of the hotels and casinos that are springing up around the valley offer far more than meets the eye. The next time you are planning your trip to Sin City, check out some of our off-Strip locations and you just might have the vacation of a lifetime.
