The Las Vegas San Gennaro Feast

The Las Vegas San Gennaro Feast

The San Gennaro Feast has been held in Las Vegas for the past 28 years. This year the feast will move to a new location in the Northwest section of Las Vegas. The San Gennaro Feast is a chance to bring the family out for good food and great fun. This year's event will be held from September 11-16.

Starting out as a small gathering, the San Gennaro Feast has grown into an event that features numerous food vendors and a street-side carnival. The feast is a time to remember Bishop San Gennaro who was tortured and killed in 305 A.D. He was a fervent defender of Christ and this loyalty eventually caused his death.

After being beheaded, his body and head were collected by a kindly old man of the city in Italy. Also an older women mopped up his blood and placed it into two containers that are on display in Naples. It is said that every year on September 19, the blood of this martyr transforms from a dried out mass to a foamy, fully liquid substance. No one has been able to explain this wonder, but thousands gather each year to view the wonder and pray to San Gennaro. San Gennaro is prayed to by many people for protection from a wide range of ailments.

At the festival there are numerous food vendors who will provide a wide variety of Italian and other types of food. Guests stroll down the many corridors and take in the sights and smells that permeate the air.

After you have had your fill of food, you will want to try out the full-scale amusement rides that will be set up on the property. From a small roller coaster, ferris wheel and many standard carnival games this will be a fun time for the whole family.

This year the feast will be held at the cornor of Peace Way and S. Grand Canyon Dr, this is very close to the 215 beltway and Flamingo. This larger space should be able to accommodate the large crowds that have attended the event in recent years. More information can be obtained on their website at www.sangennarofeast.com.
