The Falls Golf Club a Must Play

The Falls Golf Club a Must Play

If you're looking to play a golf course that has it all, then do not overlook The Falls Golf Club at Lake Las Vegas. You will be mesmerized by the elevation changes, the perfect course conditions and the views of the Las Vegas Valley while playing this golf course.

The Falls Golf Club at Lake Las Vegas is located about 30 minutes from The Las Vegas Strip. This is a drive you'll be happy to make once you set eyes on the lush greens and fairways when pulling into to gate. When arriving at the golf course, you are greeted by the outside staff. They will load up your clubs on the golf cart and direct you to the golf shop. Once you have checked in, just step outside the golf shop where you will be greeted by your personal caddy for the day. I would encourage you to take a caddy at The Falls the first time you play here. The caddies are very knowledgeable and will give you the added confidence needed to hit some of the shots you will have to play on this golf course.

The practice facility at The Falls Golf Club is second to none. There is plenty of room here to warm up, hits some chip shots and also some putts. I would definitely recommend getting used to the practice greens because they are just as fast as the greens that you will putt on the rest of the day.

When your tee-time is approaching, a starter will come down to get you and direct you to the first tee. Listen to the starter as he gives out the yardage books and other advice about the golf course. Don't let your guard down after the first hole at The Falls because the second hole will bite you. The second hole is a 602 yard Par 5. Keep the tee-shot down the left side to stay away from the bunkers that line the right side of the hole. Your second shot will have to carry over a natural wash that runs through the fairway. This green is surrounded by bunkers short and long, so make sure to hit the right iron to put your ball on the green.

The 3rd hole, a Par 3, is a great hole that demands a precise shot off the tee. The hole plays 209 yards with a lake short and on the right side. There are many bunkers on the left of the green that you definitely want to stay out of. This green also has a false front, so play for the center of the green and the two putt.

The par 4 5th hole has a lake that you cannot see from the tee box. The perfect tee shot is just left of the fairway bunker on the right side. If you do take the driver out and pull it to the left, you have a good chance of rolling into the lake. The green is tucked really close to the lake on the left and some deep bunkers on the right. Again you will need to hit a precise shot to the green.

My two favorite holes on the front nine are The Par 5 7th and the Par 3 8th. The 7th hole is a shorter par 5 (519 yards) that meanders straight uphill through a canyon. Precision is a must off the tee here because there is not much room for error. There are a few options for your second shot. You can lay up short of the waste area in front of the green, or aim to the left and hit the grassy area just left of the hole. The 8th hole (170 yards) is a shorter Par 3 where again you are hitting from an elevated tee-box down to the green. This hold will play at least one club shorter than you think.

There are three holes on the back nine that will blow your mind away. I still cannot figure out how Tom Weiskopf saw these holes before they were designed and they are breath-taking. The holes I'm talking about are 12, 13 and 14. Hole number 12 is a par 5 (553 yards) where you are going to have to use your caddy for the second shot. This shot is up over the hill and back down to the green. The fairway slopes pretty sharply to the left, so your shot needs to be aimed way right of the target. The number 13th hole (388 yards) is a sight to behold. The tee boxes are perched way above the fairway and the green is around the mountain on your right. Make sure you hit enough club to get on the higher of the two fairways, so you will have a shot that will not be impeded by the rocks. The 14th hole (336 yards) is a great short par four that is definitely reachable. Your tee-shot will have to navigate a myriad of bunkers that are placed around this green. There is not much room to run the ball onto the green, so accuracy is a must. The Falls Golf Club is definitely a must play when you come here to Las Vegas. There are not many courses in the U.S. that can give you this unique experience. When you're done, you can have a seat and a cold beverage out on the patio and watch the other golfers come in on the 18th and 9th holes and be glad that you have conquered one of the best golf courses in Las Vegas.
