Reflection Bay Golf Course Exceeds Expectations

Before I even stepped foot on Reflection Bay Golf Course, I was expecting it to be one of the best golfing experiences I have ever had. I had heard so much about the golf course and the Lake Las Vegas area in general that I was extremely excited to get out and play there. The word of mouth reviews, the reviews by golf magazines, and just the sticker price of the golf course in general, all led me to have such high expectations of a course I had never seen before.

When I pulled into the Lake Las Vegas Resort my expectations were fulfilled. From the waterfalls by the entrance, to the stunning golf course (The Falls Golf Club) that you pass on the way in, everything looked fantastic. As you pass by the lake itself you can see what a luxurious and relaxing destination Lake Las Vegas really is.

The first thing you notice when you get to Reflection Bay is the superb service you are provided with. Your golf clubs are handled for you and put on golf carts. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And of course the clubhouse is beautiful. After checking in at the golf shop and browsing some Jack Nicklaus and Reflection Bay memorabilia, I was ready to get on the golf course.

After a few swings on the range I got to the first tee. I held my breath, closed my eyes, swung as hard as I could, and managed to get it in the middle of the fairway to start my round. After that it was smooth sailing. The golf course itself is very challenging. Errant tee shots or approach shots are punished by desert hazard area. But as nice as the conditions are and as fabulous as the layout is, it is just very hard to be upset about a bad golf shot. That statement cannot be truer than when you get to holes 8, 9, 17, and 18. Those 4 holes are literally bordering Lake Las Vegas and provide a breathtaking setting to watch your well struck shots glide through the air. If you can keep your ball out of the water on 17 and 18, that is quite an accomplishment and makes the round feel so much better ending with good solid pars on two tough finishing holes.

It is not often that your expectations of a golf course can be so high before arriving and completely fulfilled after leaving. Reflection Bay Golf Course is a course that will impress you with its layout, conditions, service, and splendid views of the lake and the Las Vegas Valley. The bottom line is that at Reflection Bay Golf Course, no matter how high your expectations are, I promise they will be exceeded.
