The PGA Tour makes one stop a year in Las Vegas for the Frys.com Open. This year was the first year that I had a chance to volunteer to help out a worthy cause. I was very interested to see how a big tournament works from the inside and so I filled out my application and was accepted on the Laser Reporting Committee. Most people might not be familiar with the Laser Reporting Committee, but they are responsible for all the stats you see on the television screen.

Las Vegas is home to some of the largest and most elaborate hotels and casinos in the world. No where else on the planet can you visit the canals of Venice in the morning and look at the New York Skyline at night. With so many themed resorts it is no wonder that millions of people visit Las Vegas each year. As the city has grown so have the options available off the Strip. The night life of Sin City comes alive each night at the Palms Hotel and Casino.

Las Vegas is known for the hosting some of the largest and the best in entertainment. Constantly the city is growing with themed resorts like the lavish Bellagio and the up-and-coming $7 billion City Center Project. In an effort to keep pace with these mega resorts, the Las Vegas golf courses are turning into multi-golf course resorts that often include hotels on-site or very near the property. Most golfers who venture to Las Vegas choose to play multiple rounds of golf on a single visit.

Over the past year Rhodes Ranch Golf Club in Las Vegas has been experiencing some difficult times with their greens. Coming out of overseeding in 2006, they had to completely replace the greens twice.. During the summer months the golf course was completely shut down in order to change the greens and hopefully give them a chance to survive. Recently I had the opportunity to play this Las Vegas golf course after it had gone through the overseeding process again in 2007.

Each year, conventions play a large part in visitor numbers to Las Vegas. With convention visitor numbers increasing each year, it's no wonder, Bear's Best Golf Club was built specifically to attract them. This is a great Las Vegas golf course for a corporate golf outing or convention groups. From tee to green, the Lexington golf course at the Revere Golf Club is one of the most demanding golf courses in Las Vegas. Right from the start, players are faced with dramatic elevation changes and hazards to avoid. This golf course was designed by Billy Casper and Greg Nash, who have combined rugged desert areas with pristine swaths of grass. There is really no time to let your guard down, and if you do, the result will be a big number.

The Rio Secco Golf Club prides itself on having great golf course conditions and I recently had a perfect opportunity to see how the golf course faired during overseeding. Rio Secco really does overseeding right by closing down for almost three weeks before allowing golfers back on the golf course. This can make a big difference in the how quickly the grass will grow and what type of base will be established for the winter season.

It's the Official Golf Season for Las Vegas, and the golf courses are in prime condition and ready for the Fall. I've taken the liberty to visit each golf course to give you the rundown on whats hot to play when booking golf in Las Vegas. Running a golf tournament is no easy task, especially in a city like Las Vegas. The Shriners will need to make sure everything is running smoothly to ensure a successful event.

The Fall Season is typically the best time for golf in Las Vegas. The desert air starts to cool, the winds are mild, and the golf courses are in the best condition possible! If you're looking for a great destination for golf during the Fall Season - Las Vegas is the place for you.

GolfTEC, the geniuses behind the popular PGA Certified indoor-golf instruction facilities have recently opened it's first retail and golf instruction outlet in in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Las Vegas outlet is owned by Ronald Memo a veteran of Las Vegas. In his excitement over the concept of GolfTEC and the quality of the golf instruction that will be offered in his first location, Memo plans to open two additional locations in the future to cover the entire Las Vegas Valley.

Las Vegas, Nevada is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. No place has more growth right now that in the northwest section of the city. Angel Park Golf Club is located right in the heart of several major condo developments that are currently under construction. With this tremendous influx of people the traffic in the area can only get more congested.

As the summer starts to wind down, the desert southwest starts the annual process of overseeding. This is one of the most important and dreaded times during the year for golf courses in Las Vegas, Nevada. Without it, though, Las Vegas would be just an average golf destination instead of a world-class mecca for golf. Most golf courses in Las Vegas have a base of bermuda grass which thrives in the hot weather. As the temperatures start to cool off, this grass goes dormant and turns yellow.

At Boulder Creek Golf Club this month the greens are in fantastic shape. They have an outstanding summer rate of $75 during the week and $85 on the weekends. The greens are not only running smooth and quick but are very receptive to approach shots, and it's fairly easy to spin the ball out of the fairway. If you're anything like me, you're not used to holding greens in the summer months here in Las Vegas.

The summer-time is when you absolutely MUST PLAY The Falls and Reflection Bay Golf Courses down at The Lake Las Vegas Resort. They are an absolute steal at $170 during the week and $190 on the weekends. These summer rates are more than $100 off the normal rates for these courses. If you don't like playing 4.5 to 5.5-hour rounds, then these two golf courses are perfect for you. I was out at The Falls on a Friday morning at 10am and played in a smooth 3.

Coming to Las Vegas soon? Here's the scoop on some of what's going on in July at some of the golf courses here in Las Vegas. Las Vegas National Golf Club is going to be punching their greens starting on Monday, July 9th. I recommend that you stay away from there for at least three weeks so the greens can recover. The Arroyo Course at Red Rock Country Club will be aerating their greens on June 25th.

Las Vegas is one of the fastest growing communities in the country. Part of this phenomenal growth is taking place in a little community called Summerlin. Summerlin is a master-planned community located in the northwest portion of the Las Vegas Valley. There are over 20 housing developments located in this area. With all of this growth it's no wonder that golf courses, hotels and resorts have sprung up throughout this neighborhood.

I recently took the opportunity to play the Palm Valley Golf Club located in Sun City in Summerlin, NV. This golf course is one of three that can be found in this large retirement community. I personally have always enjoyed this golf course, because it is the longest and most challenging of the three courses. Before heading out to the golf course I went to the practice facility to warm up. They have changed this area recently and I liked the changes.

It is no secret that Las Vegas is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. Each week new projects are proposed that must go before the city council. Several of these new designs are mammoth housing communities that encompass everything a family would need. One of these communities is Aliante.
