Siena Golf Club Continues to Improve
Featured Golf Course
September 2008
By: Scott Bowles

Siena Golf Club creeped into the Las Vegas golf scene in 1999 with just the front nine and opened all 18 holes in 2000. Since that time, the community around Siena Golf Club has been built up, giving the golf course more definition. In addition, a 13,000 square foot clubhouse, desert features added to improve the aesthetics, a bit of yardage added to the 5th and 11th tees, and a redesign of hole #16, have only added positively to the golf experience. If you haven't seen it lately, you may not recognize the golf course. "It's not just lipstick on a pig, it's a prom dress on a beauty queen" says Bon Yuryk, a local golfer who plays Siena Golf Club often. I'll have to agree with Bon on this one - much improvement has been made over the years.
I'll have to say that the reasons I like Siena Golf Club are because the greens are fast and they have two short par threes (holes 5 & 17) that you don't find much on a championship golf course any more. Don't let them fool you though, these two take a precise shot from the tee. I love to see my playing partners pucker up on these holes. If you miss the green on one of these two holes you'll most likely find another defining characteristic of Siena Golf Club, deep green side bunkers. Don't let those pin placements get to you!
Siena Golf Club will be good to play come the middle of September as they just aerated greens at the end of August!
